my first quarter earnings were much higher than his. I have one of those taste tests every now and then where I put my Whopper up against his quarter pounders in unmarked wrappers and 95% of the people prefer mine to his stuff. True story

I am not sure, BK, if you think wittol means little. If you do, you need to google wittol. Also, on your CSRS retirement: You maxed out at 80%. Then you get your sick leave added to that. So if you have 2.5 years of sick leave you would have another 5%. Your high 3 right now is $75,000. 85% of $75,000 is $63,750/yr or $5,312.50/mo. 80% of $75,000 would be exactly $5,000/mo. So the sick leave adds about $300/mo.
And I estimate you have overpaid in the ballpark of $40,000 into CSRS since you maxed out. So you will get that money back when you retire, I believe untaxed.

I liked wittol better when I thought it was little with a speech impediment. Now, I’m kinda bummed out. I think the Oxford English Dictionary should consider a second definition for “wittol”. It’s the least they should do. Or, maybe Wikipedia (just for the sake of humor)!

you’re pretty sharp at that stuff aren’t you? I’m hoping to get 6K a month . How many more years would I need to work to get that? I stay away from Google. That’s where I met my wife. I doubt they give me that money back. Last time I checked, they had no record of me ever working at the post office

Your years of work no longer matter except for accumulating more sick leave and getting a higher wage upon which the annuity is figured. You can raise your wage by 2.1% by becoming a utility carrier. But if you had 2.5 years of sick leave that would give you an annuity of 85% of your high 3 (unless GOP changes it to high 5, but I think that is just what they want to do to FERS). To get $6,000 per month at 85% you would have to have it based on pay of $83,720/yr. That would take you a few years. Of course, if you figure you no longer pay into CSRS that is another 7%. Plus you get back the 7% you paid the last 8 years. You are basically working for nothing but overtime at this point. Plus any health and enjoyment of life benefits. Some get those more at work and some get them more in retirement.
