Werner Enterprises said it’s holding the line on dedicated capacity as the industry awaits a turn in the cycle.
We the American trucker needs to stand together and file a petition that if you are not a natural born us citizen then you can not have a CDL in the United States..
The biggest problem is foreigners coming over here paying for a CDL then working dirt cheap.
All the CDL schools need to be shut down. There is already enough drivers out here. We need to thin out the drivers so rates go back up. We need to remove foreign drivers so safety on our roads goes back up. I see way to many kids getting out here not having a clue how to operate a semi yet schools and mega carriers push them out.
Schools should be operated by federal employees which should be minimum 6 months then they should have to ride with a trainer for 6 months when they get hired to a company. All foreigners should have CDL terminated.
Once we stand together and push for this then trucking industry will turn around.
Also brokers need to have a 10% max limit put on them just like companies that do lease purchase…they should have a 10% max unless they offer dispatch services that you can sign up for then they should be able to charge an additional 10% for those who choose that service..
Lease purchase drivers are out here struggling sometimes not even receiving a dime when pay day is due ..all because greedy people behind desks
It’s laughable watching you move the goalpost, so only you and a small group of people like you, benefit. First, you asked for ALL non-US born citizens to be removed from the industry. Then, you ask for all CDL schools to be shut down, removing the possibility of a single driver entering the industry ever again, regardless of place of birth. Thirdly, you ask for “kids” to be removed from the market because they don’t have a clue on how to operate a semi. By your standard, who exactly should have the right to obtaining and operating with a CDL? Please don’t tell me it’s middle-aged, wannabe cowboys, posing as a “real American”, meanwhile your last name is Kerstein.. We’re going to need to check your birth certificate, bud. Smells fishy.
Eric - Who taught you to drive? You want the feds to run the schools?!?! Have you bumped your head? The last thing trucking needs is more government intervention. We need good, safe, qualified drivers that speak and understand English. We should not care where they were born if they meet the criteria.
You want to make the highways safer, get rid of auto shifting transmissions. Whoever decided that making a 40 ton truck just as easy to operate as grandmas station wagon needs to have their head examined because not everyone has what it takes to SAFELY OPERATE a 40 ton combination vehicle in inclement weather. Heck anybody can operate a truck nowadays, the other day I saw a guy get out of his truck and into a wheelchair which I thought was a really good accomplishment for a handicapped person but then I wondered, “how does one do a pre-trip inspection from a wheelchair”?
Something else that would be a big help is if LAW ENFORCEMENT would do their job and enforce the laws currently on the books.
