Truckers east of I-35 advised to stay home

Staying warm and off the road is better than Ezra As Winter Storm Ezra intensifies across the central and eastern United States, the freight industry faces a severe threat from high winds that could blow over trailers, disrupting operations and endangering drivers. The storm, which began escalating on Sunday, is unleashing gusts of 50+ mph…

T680 Kenworth I slept in on 12/28/25 at iowa 80 truck stop during the snow wind storm that night had voltage going down from 14 to 11 volts then bunk heater would automatically shut off because of low voltage, then I had to idle the truck to get voltage back up to get bunk heater to work again. I have a Cummins motor. Wind would knock my empty around when I was parked and trash would fly out of the trash can across the parking lot

You need to have your batteries, alternator checked. Could even be a short. Your voltage should not go to 11 volts for any reason except what I noted. Don’t chance being caught in cold weather with no heat. Not worth it.

Winter storm Ezra poses significant dangers to truckers and motorists in the Midwest-

So what about east of i35. Typo?
Look, we truckers look at more than just weather apps. We use cb and radio, besides news outlets, to know inportant things like road hazards and conditions. Whether thats an update for road treatment against snow or road closures. Then we act accordingly.

You cant make a statement like east of i35. Stay home. Thats the wildest thing ive heard in years. If youve been trucking for any amount of time, you know its more about north and south regions vs west and east when talking about winter season. East and west of i35 is a whole other talking point.

Are you saying it would be “Good” to stay home? Maybe it’s “In the Blood” to be on the road in the winter time. I still have to find s way to get back to my loving “Rosalía”!
