I’ve seen the issues with the current CDL system and believe there are solutions that can significantly improve safety and eliminate fraud. – Tab Caticha How to Overturn the CDL System: A Comprehensive Reform Proposal The Commercial Driver’s…
There are some good ideas here, however several are non-starters. Both IFTA and IRP involve ■■■■■■■■ provinces, so that would eliminate the IRS management of those programs.
The states shouldn’t have anything to do with issuing CDLs. There’s to much fraud going on. Not even Intrastate license. And only issue CDLs to United States citizens. That would take care of the undocumented worker issue. Is English required to become a citizen? Its not hard to set this up for success. It’s other political fraud reasons why this hasn’t happened yet. The DMV is the big reason why the roads aren’t safe Along with no public advertising about road safety. There should be a budget to advertise road safety. There’s to many ignorant people on the road not to advertise safety. We’re the entertainment capital of the world. We can make it fun and interesting.
What is all this for when its employees breaking the law and manufacturing fake licences
It’s not a bad idea to federalize CDL. There are some good points, I didn’t see you discuss anything about the pay and benefits. Everything need to be fair across the board and we know having a CDL or being a business owner and Trucking isn’t there and we’re not compensated for the work that we do.
You are so naive and uneducated for believing this will fix the CDL system. The problem we have is not that this in the hands of the states what really needs to happen as Government reform you have people like Governor Newsom who pushes different viewpoints than most of the rest of the nation wanting illegals to be here and to have all the rights that American citizens do if you federalize it you’re still going to have the same group of ■■■■■■■ people in that state operating the Federal Branch within the state if they are giving out illegal CDLs now and become a member of the federal government to issue CDLs you’re still going to get illegal CDLs being passed out use your head man this will solve nothing it will just give the federal government more money and more power we all seen how the FBI can be weaponized by placing more ■■■■■■■ employees in higher positions of power you don’t think the same thing will happen for the branch of government they will create for CDLs the real thing that needs to happen is government reform we need to be able to put the government all branches of it in check there needs to be checks and balances for the government making sure they are doing what they are supposed to and not doing what they’re not supposed to
Just go back to the way it was when cdl started. You had to take writen test in english. Not choose your language like some of these states are allowing.no company would even hire you if you didnt have GED or high school diploma. And someone explaine to me how the us post office does back round checks on drivers that haul for them and end up hiring a cuban that cant speak english
Just plain no, the federal government shouldn’t be involved, to top it off integration of the TWIC card is not acceptable.
So glad I’m nearing the end of the road.
I think it is a good idea since there are states like California who does not think they have to follow all laws of the CDL like all CDL holders are supposed to be able to Read, speak and understand the English language proficiency. That has been the law for as long as I can remember. No state should be allowing anyone who is taking the CDL test should only be done in English and no other language. These people moved to the United States of America and our language here is English. So go fir the Federal government taking over the CDL since if you haul Hazardous materials you are supposed to be checked out by the federal government.
A lot of good solid suggestions.
The just change your address not your license being up there on the Makes Sense and the Would Reduce Everybody’s Cost scales.
But do you want to put the entire program in the hands of folks of such narrow life experience they can’t understand the english language of literally every fourth trucker they talk too? When all the states generally manage to understand 19 out of 20 drivers or better percentages? How about some “RosettaStone:English Edition” for our federal inspectors??? Should we hearing test them or provide free cotton QuTips? Maybe free auditory processing occupational therapy screening? Or is here some other thing going on with our national overseerers that explains why only they can’t understand anybody?
Careful what you wish for….
