Tender rejections are already near last year’s July Fourth peak.
I think the English proficiency ; as highlighted focus; is the entire reason for this year’s stronger lack of capacity; & stronger rates. I’m a driver too; not just owner; and I’ve seen , recently, some drivers that speak almost no English; no way to communicate with them. It is very likely that the fleets that hire these “forced the issue” of keeping them from being discovered. Most fleets know that the official dates of these checks are NOT the only days that these highlighted categories are focused on; these will continue into this week, for sure (otherwise, the “blitz” would be useless; as advertising a “blitz” makes it not a blitz. I know a CVSA / state trooper, that confirmed this suspicion, when I suggested it, years ago. The blitz does not only occur on the advertised dates. Therefore, many are staying off the road, at least another week. Fact, not opinion . I can give someone at FW some CVSA names, if you want to do story on dates advertised vs actual. The percentage of non English-fluent drivers in the US is low; but has increased exponentially in last decade. Maybe 5%? But take this 5% off of road; and this is drastic reduction in capacity.
