The $750,000 federal minimum set in 1980 has lost 70% of its purchasing power and covers a fraction of what a serious crash costs today.
What needs to be reformed is the insurance companies vetting of these unsafe carriers that hire these unsafe drivers. All the minimum insurance requirement increase will do is increase insurance premiums and the number of accident attorney billboards you see on the side of the road. It will do nothing to solve the underlying issue of saftey.
