It would be very honorable if freightwaves could get the real story out about Yellow. You got plenty of former employees who would sign affidavits attesting to the truth. One has to go back to 2012 when Yellow Freight lied and deceived its Union employees. First there was the 10% cut in pay. Later it was 15%. Then the Pension was taken away. All promises to return after the company was made whole again. But it never happened. Sure Yellow acquired other trucking companies with promises of being a bigger and stronger company, but again, it never happened. For 10 plus years, Yellow was able to operate without paying top union wages and no pension contributions. And yet they still could not make a profit? Poor leadership at the top lead to more loss of business and then the wheels started to come off the train. Prior to 2023 collapses, Yellow had sent out million dollar bonuses to several high up executives. The reason for that was never properly disclosed. Some think the writing was on the wall and the money was being dulled out before the collapse. Fast forward to 2023, the last week of July. Yellow was about to default on money owed to the medical plans and were told to pay by the weekend of July 22-23 under threat of a strike for the following Monday the 24th. Yellow did indeed pay the money owed and operations resumed as normal on Monday with pickups and deliveries. Behind the scenes, the IBT (International brotherhood of teamsters) and the company (Yellow Freight) were in negotiations to revise and come to terms with a new contract. Negotiations broke down. No Federal Mediator was asked to come in and talks went silence. At my Terminal #889 Hayward with Teamsters Locals #70, Yellow management was oblivious to what was going on. Our Terminal manager Ray Magallanes was M.I.A. For two weeks prior. Not a word from him as to the state of the company or the negotiations. Our two lead supervisors were clueless as to what was happening. Freight levels for July 25 to 28 dwindle down to nothing. Just call trailers and traps being worked and delivered. Yet no word from anyone as to what was going on. Some guys showed up to work that week while many stayed away. It wasn’t until that weekend that Yellow posted a notice on the locked front gate that the company had shut its doors. No phone calls went out, no official letters were sent out informing employees. Nope just a notice on the gate. Yet a judge from Delaware of all places had ruled that Yellow had no obligations to pay the WARNACT claim. We need Freight Waves to assist us in uncovering the real truth what transpired that last week and show discovery of a company that has a past history of lies and deceit practiced on its employees. Can Freight Waves help us out by investigating the names of these judges and interview the employees who had similar experiences at their terminals. Is there any justice still left in this world?
