what truck parking club doesn’t say is that they’re going to independent truck stops and convincing them to charge for parking and lining TPC pockets with commissions and making it more difficult for truck drivers that are out here struggling to make a living.This is typical, they see a problem and take advantage of the situation while portraying as a solution to the General “ignorant” public while hurting the situation and profiting on its behalf. and to top it off the guys on the texas committee nice
The parking situation exists, and something needs done. I’ve said for years that private investment in paid safe and secure parking is the solution.
Shippers and receivers have no responsibility to build parking spaces for the trucks moving the freight. They’re often landlocked, and buying neighboring properties to provide parking makes zero sense. And the government shouldn’t be spending precious taxpayer money to build free parking spaces to remedy the problem.
The trucking companies have had a free ride as long as we’ve had truckload freight movement of goods. This solution makes the most sense to provide safe, secure, and legal parking.
It shouldn’t come out of the driver’s pocket. It’s quite easy to add the expense of paid parking for trucks. When a truckload rate confirmation is done, add an additional amount for paid parking for the trip. Your company can enter into contracts with these private enterprise parking companies. The fees involved gets paid as part of the negotiated freight rate.
I dont agree that the taxpayers shouldnt be funding this. The DOT HOS causes us to have to find a spot to park for sleep. Why isn’t it like the Park and Ride lots in PA? PennDOT funded FREE lots at interchanges where you can park your car and ride with a fellow worker headed in the same direction.
