DOT advisors push massive freight tunnel, truck-parking projects

A U.S. DOT advisory panel recommended a dedicated truck tunnel under the Hudson River and the creation of 40,000 new truck parking spaces nationwide to be funded by public-private partnerships.

Did they mention its probably going to be a Itoll tunnel and how much truckers are going to have to pay being forced to take the tunnel? Also how much are these new parking spaces going to cost?? Im sick of hearing about all these wonderful things they want to do for drivers meanwhile they make a fortune off of us

If the money to build the infrastructure is not affecting taxpayers, but is instead coming from private sectors, then you can bet your ■■■ that its investors looking for a way to get a return. They find problems to create a solution that is in their best interest financially. If they propose the idea as a problem with a solution, it sounds good to the people that will give the okay to do it. They are not saying the truth, which is "we found a new way to make more money’ so yes, they will most definitely be charging us to take the new route. They are not doing it to be nice, they are doing it for the return on the investment to fund the project. I just wish they would call it what it is, an opportunity to reinvest their profits rather than pay taxes on profit. Then they keep their profits invested in something while taking dividend payments. Its all jiust a business opportunity.
