A potential drop in trucking capacity may be coming starting June 25 after CVSA voted to place drivers who violate English proficiency regulations out of service.

Having owned a 3PL for over 25 years, I’m going to say that number is well over 10% of current drivers

It is without a doubt over 10%. However, there’s a 0% chance this will ever be executed.

This should be a company wide out of service. If they are caught with 1 driver they should have to shutdown all trucks until every driver has retested.

The FMCSA, U.S. D.O.T., and D.C. should do more than just limit those to speak English from driving a CMV. There are non United States citizens in this country that are using CMVs as a weapon especially causing accidents that they don’t get charged with because of their nationality, which is a piss poor excuse!

I am a Hispanic born truck driver. I have been driving trucks over 27 yrs. I got my learners permit as a kid. Who grew up here in this country. I got my regular license as a kid who grew up in this country. I had to take all my examinations in English. I had to pass all road sign test in English. That being said ever since we started letting all these non English speaking non English reading Non English understanding Non Driving Non rules of the road following Idiots. And yes I call them Idiots. If they can’t understand the rules of the road in this country they don’t need to be in a commercial vehicle in this country. I would not be surprised if a lot of the major road way incidents especially in winter months in northern states. Could have been avoided if the truck drivers had CB radios and could understand. The warning calls. They go something like this. " Breaker Breaker Break on 19, SLOW IT DOWN NASTY ACCIDENT AHEAD WHOLE RD BLOCKED OFF, DANGER STOP DANGER SLOWEM DOWN. BREAKER BREAKER BREAK ONE NINE. MULTIPLE VEHICLE 4-WHEELER AND BIG TRUCKS . MEAT WAGONS NEEDED. BIG PILE UP. SLOWER DOWN STOP…"

THIS LAW WILL SAVE PEOPLES CHILDREN AND WIVES. As a Hispanic I hate to say it. But it’s the GODS honest truth. If you can’t speak and read and understand English. Go the BiG Letter F back home. I don’t to be sharing the road with people who for all I know are out there doing the wrong thing.

I’d say at least 70% of all drivers are foreign, likely 50% non English speaking and over 10% illegals. Shoot it’s probably 10% that don’t have a CDL. I run auto freight from Detroit. Then I always end up in California where I can say I’ve seen 5 American drivers a year coming out of Cali.

Even them driving the 4 wheelers are nuts. Man I had this minivan dead stop in front of me in San Antonio and I was fully loaded. It’s scary how many lives is good drivers save on a daily basis. Whats worse is how badly I am treated when I’m in the border towns loading. If they just had any respect in this country or for this country they would have learned English. I appreciate your comment a whole lot!

As a freight dispatcher I’ve seen Chinese drivers, Eastern Europen drivers, Mexicans, etc come to get a load and cannot tell me their load number, cannot speak or read english and all they can do is show me their notepads with the info I need.
I have even gone so far as to type out our instructions in 5 different languages just so the drivers can know what is required off them…slide tandems to the rear, chock your wheels, stay out of the cab while loading and go to drivers lounge.
So with all of this going on nationwide, how do they read the rules of the road, and where is DOT when they scale them. Looks like DOT and Highway Patrol just passes them by???..It was a plan from the beginning long before Joe and Barry entered the scene I believe.

How you supposed to read the road signs if you cant speak the langauge?

I5 corrider is about 70 % foreign. Once east of the 3 West coast states it’s 10% foreign…until I get back into liberal cities like Denver and Chicago then back to 80%
