The engines already have 70min to thaw enough DEF to start dosing. And that clock doesn’t start until after the thermostat opens for full circulation—even more time to send heat down there. Maybe they do need to put an insulation wrap on the tank—one of the cheapest things to do! Why let them skate?
If it’s not about the supposed derates, then what is it about?
Don’t we need manufacturers held accountable for their designs and their decisions on when they stopped designing and validating? They deal with diesel fuel’s cold weather quirks—why not give us the same tools to keep the rest of the truck operating too?
