The more than $600 million judgment in a Texas court case against C.H. Robinson has been affirmed by the judge that heard the case. Judge Dianne Jones of Dallas County Court on Friday affirmed the July verdict of $604,025,000 handed down in July against C.H. Robinson (NASDAQ: CHRW) as a result of a fatal accident…

Given the size of the verdict CHR has nothing to lose by moving up through the Texas appellate process. Werner lost at trial in the Blake case and then again on the first appeal before having the Texas Supreme Court dismissed the previous verdict with a measure of common sense. The Texas Supreme Court also ruled in the Home Depot case that Shippers were not responsible for accidents contracted carriers were involved in under most circumstances so including brokerages in on that line of thinking might not be much of a stretch either.
