WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Josh Brecheen is again leading the charge to keep regulators from capping truck speeds below the legal limits posted on highways and interstates. The Deregulating Restrictions on Interstate Vehicles and Eighteen-Wheelers (DRIVE) Act, introduced on Thursday by the Oklahoma Republican, would prohibit the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration from requiring that…
I hope fmcsa doesn’t succeed in this limiting truck speed, its a slippery slope to tyranny especially in an industry so heavily regulated and expensive to operate as it is. Government doesnt tell McDonald’s how many burgers they can safely sell per hour, or Boeing how many planes they can build per year, but its ok to tell truckers, and trucking companies what speed they can drive!? Despite whatever the speed limit on the road says… im sorry but thats bull dung! Trucking is already a super undesirable job, they are just going to make it unbearable to the point where its dead. Ive been a trucker for 20yrs. I feel like this could very much be like gun control, just get a foot in the door, we wont limit your speed that much just put these limiters in your trucks, mandated by law now, its only 5 mph difference, but then every 4 years they keep taking bite after bite until oops, theres no more guns allowed would ya look at that!
