FMCSA removed 12 more electronic logging devices from the registry today, bringing the total to 79 revocations since January 2025. The registered list is bleeding devices faster than the market is adding them. At this rate, the agency may be building a de facto third-party certification standard without ever formally adopting one.

Yup. Big problem, trying to get low end programmers with no driving experience advised (if you’re lucky) by someone with little familiarity on the enforcement side and no input from drivers. Nobody really good at coding apps is interested in this, that is my experience to date - and they appear to be getting the details from HSE personnel who do not know the regs. So we’re getting mandatory annotations that are neither in the law nor the regs and glitchy apps that fail when they lose contact with the network (usually cellular but where I drive in the mountains even satellite is out of service thirty percent of the time)

There are two types of safety program: one is actually concerned with safety and safety culture (these are the minority) and the police state cover-the-company-at-all-costs aka hawk on your shoulder, very popular in an expanding police state.

As long as you don’t mind driver turnover and increased incidents due to the dependence on computer based training. These are the majority in my forty years of experience and the emergence of a “safety” class of personnel with no experience in the actual industry.
