Taylor Express shut down without warning, cutting off support and leaving some truck drivers sleeping in their rigs while trying to get home, former employees said.
It’s incredibly sad to see so many drivers stranded by a company that claimed to care about them. You can’t tell me that the company didn’t know that a closure was imminent. They CHOSE to strand their drivers and blindside the rest of the company. Hopefully, since R&R is still functioning, the drivers can at least get the pay they are owed and recoup the funds they had to use to get home. R&R claims to hire world-class people but don’t even fit that definition themselves. Such a shame, hopefully these drivers find themselves at a carrier who truly cares and understands that we only have jobs because of the drivers.
Attention Drivers:
I would never be stranded this way in possession of the equipment. There would be a fire sale on said parts from said equipment post haste. Of course I would state I left it parked there. It was fine. Shady buisnesses need parts. I wouldn’t lose a seconds sleep over it. Good luck. Hope it gets better.
Ive been in the industry for 33years, I’ve been a owner operater for the past 2 years. As a professional driver I know I’m a commodity when working for a company, I’m only as good as the last load I delivered. No matter how good you are , your expendable, and will be thrown under the bus when the ■■■■ hits the fan. Don’t take it personal, roles reversed, we’d do the same if it was our company.
My advice is always cover your ■■■■ and have a exit plan, with a means to get home. If your owed money and your able to secure your equipment, no guarantees you’ll get the money your owed, but its the right thing to do.
Trucking is a dirty business, it takes a toughest of individuals to survive and prosper in this job. Do not ever buy into the ■■■■■ tale that companies try to sell you. Remember, your in charge of your equipment, you have the final say when and where it goes, operating safely is your #1 priority.
My husband and I once worked for a company in New Jersey. We live in Oklahoma. When the dock workers voted in to joined the union. The company closed their doors. We were down in Texas to pick up a load when we found out. I found out from fellow team on Facebook. We called the dispatcher and confirmed they were in process of closing the company. Wanted us to drive truck back to New Jersey. We told them we were 7 hours from the house. Full of fuel so could make it home. Also, told them we had a very large oak tree in front yard and the truck would be chained up until we got our pay. They understood and we kept in contact. Got our pay. And worked it out to take the truck down to the Texas Motor Speedway and turn it in for auction. We were even taken on a tour.
