More than 400,000 KitKats were stolen in transit, but the product itself is still traceable. Nestlé’s response shows how even a chocolate bar can carry the signal after the load is gone.

This would be good if the perpetrators are caught. Otherwise it is fruitless. A claim will still be made. Food products, packaged, or not, would have to be destroyed even if they were found. Losing chain of custody on food products means tbey are now garbage. No company would risk the liability of using this product again, and for good reason. Batch codes would be good for the destruction of the product if found. The perpetrators being busted would be make it better and the person who bought them.
